Physical & Mental: Has a very strong athletic body.
Mentally, he is very focused and plays hard.
Ball Skills: Going to need some work, for playing the
perimeter at the next level.
Offense: Good inside scorer. Perimeter shooting needs
some work, and shooting range needs to be extended with more
consistency. Not afraid to go inside and can post-up very well.
Rebounding: Aggressive offensive rebounder. Very athletic
and good leaper inside. Not afraid to mix it up. Has good
size and gets good position.
Defense: Plays good post defense. Needs work on
defending quicker more agile guards on the perimeter.
Game Knowledge: Very smart player.
Strengths: Post defense, body type and rebounding.
Opportunities for Improvement: Perimeter game.
Overall Comments: It
seems that Balford played out of position in college. At 6-5, he
will be more likely called upon to play on the perimeter than
inside. As a result, adding some outside scoring range
would make Balford an even more versatile threat.
