Physical & Mental: He is a 2-guard with speed, range and an excellent shot, while also being very tough mentally.

 

Ball Skills: He handles the ball very well in the open court and can get his own shot. 

 

Offense: He is an excellent shooter with post-up ability.  He is a scoring threat from a variety of places on the floor.  He can finish in traffic and create his own shot. He makes excellent shot selection decisions. Has very good size for a shooting guard.

 

Rebounding: He is an excellent rebounder, both from the wing and inside. Has very long arms that help.

 

Defense: Tenacious and focused.  Holds his own on the perimeter and inside.


Game Knowledge: Very smart. Knows how to use his skills to complement his teammates.

 

Strengths: He knows the game very well and uses that knowledge to his advantage.  He is very smart, has an excellent build and is in good shape physically.

 

Opportunities for Improvement: He can add some strength and play better competition.  As he does both of those things, his game will improve more.

 

Overall Comments:  Very coachable. Works very well with teammates. Plays well through fatigue and mistakes.  Does not get rattled. He is a player who can help a team NOW with his intelligence and versatility.  No team would be disappointed!

Also lead the team in blocks (14)and steals (29)...Was the leading scorer in 18 of the 26 games he played in...Scored in double digits in 25 games...Tied his career high of 45 points in a loss to Northern Michigan (11/30/02)...Mentioned in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" for his record breaking 90 points in three games performance at the Disney Tip-Off Classic...Career total of 1,856 points places him 3rd on the all-time Laker Scoring list... Junior(2001-02): Named to the 2002 GLIAC first-team, and named to the GLIAC all-defensive team for the second straight season....Ben played in 27 of the 28 contests and started 26 of them....Lead the team in points with 521 and points per game with 19.3....Scored season-high 36 points in a 92-79 win over Findlay on 1/12/02...Led the team with 30 points in the Lakers 86-76 upset of #2 seeded Gannon in the GLIAC Quarterfinals....Ben also nailed 61 of his team leading 358 3-pointers....Tallied 162 rebounds, 33 steals, and 13 blocks... Sophomore(2000-01): Named to the all-GLIAC North Division second team....Also earned GLIAC all-defensive team honors....Led the team in scoring with 442 points, in 26 games played....Averaged 17 points per game....Tallied 110 rebounds....Led the team in scoring on 10 occasions, including the Lakers quarterfinal loss of the GLIAC Tournament....Scored a career high 45 points at Northwood on 2/20/01...Also tallied 42 steals and six blocks... Freshman(1999-2000): Third on the team in scoring with 271 points....Averaged 9.3 points per game, the most of any freshman....Led the team in scoring on six occasions....Led the team in rebounds 3 times during the season...Finished the season with 97 rebounds...
