The third Pitt Johnstown student-athlete to
be awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Patterson, who
received a $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, is one of only 29 women
across all three NCAA Divisions in 12 winter sports to be awarded the
scholarship. This highly prestigious award requires superior academic
and
athletic achievement. Patterson was a Managerial Accounting and
Management Information Systems major with a 3.90 G.P.A. On the
court, Patterson was the NCAA Division II Independent Player of the
Year. She finished the 2004-05 season ranked 10th in scoring at 22.3
points per game and 22nd in steals per game at 3.4. She was named to
three Honorable Mention All-America Teams, including Kodak, Daktronics
and Women’s Division II Bulletin. Her 22.3 points per game average tied
Denise Gallo’s Lady Cat Single-Season Scoring Average record set in
1995-96. She was also named Preseason Honorable Mention All-America by
Women’s Division II Bulletin.
Patterson ended her career ranked 16th on
the Lady Cat All-Time Scoring List with 1,196 career points. In 27
games-played in 2004-05, Patterson led Pitt Johnstown in scoring (22.3
ppg.), field goals made (202), three-point field goals made (53),
free-throws made (146) and steals (91). She is second on the team in
free-throw percentage at 82.0% and third in rebounding at 4.7 rpg.
Patterson led Pitt Johnstown or tied for the team
lead in scoring 22 times. She also scored 20 or more points in a game 19
times, including a career-high 38 points at Shepherd (WV) University on
February 21. She led the Lady Cats to an impressive 21-6 overall record
during the 2004-05 season.
Academically, Patterson, a 2004-05 team
captain for Head Coach Jodi Gault, became the first Lady Cat basketball
player to be named a First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American.
Patterson is a recipient of an Academic Leadership Scholarship at Pitt
Johnstown. She also received the Lowell D. Shaffer Student-Athlete Award
and the Fesler Edwards Award for having the top Q.P.A. among Business
Management students. In addition, Patterson is a member of Phi Kappa Phi
Honor Society. |
